I am very excited to say that this week on my food prep day (Sunday) I made myself a Nut Butter for the first time EVER!
This was much quicker + easier than I had previously anticipated, and it really is YUMMY!
I do have a Vitamix which I realise is lucky (I saved up and waited for a long time to get this) so you will need some sort of powerful blender if you want to try and make your own nut butter.
I grabbed some cashews, some pecan nuts, some olive oil and some sea salt –> Threw it in the blender for around 10 minutes. I did have to stop the blender a few times as it was getting hot, and to scrape some of the residue back into the mix. After around 10 minutes I had THE most wonderful looking (and tasting) Nut Butter.
This can be kept in the fridge for around 6-8 weeks *Thumbs Up* (Although I am not sure it will last that long) I have however been using just a spoonful after lunch + dinner to curb those sweet tooth cravings 😉
**USEFUL TIP**
ENJOY A SMALL FATTY SNACK 10 TO 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR MEALS. YOU’LL REMAIN FULLER LONGER.
At the outlet of your stomach is a muscular ring, the pyloric valve. It regulates the speed at which food leaves your stomach and enters your small intestine. Want to send your pyloric valve a message to slow down? Fat triggers a reflex that constricts the valve and slows digestion. As little as a teaspoon of fat—easily provided by a handful of nuts, Nut Butter or Coconut oil—will do the trick, provided you eat it before your meal.
Or like me you can eat a tsp or 2 of Coconut Oil (or in my case Nut Butter) after your lunch to stop to sweet cravings mid afternoon, keep you fuller for longer + it will help to speed up your metabolism.
***Fat doesn’t make you fat…. Eat fat to lose fat***
We need Fat to absorb vital nutrients such as Vit D,K,A,E –> We get a lot of these from the greens that we eat 😉
Have a lovely day,
