Let me introduce you to this amazing lady Alicia.. Alicia recently undertookon a charity challenge with Lloyds Banking Group to raise money for BBC Children in Need. “24 peaks in 24 hours”… Read her story below 🙂
“I knew that 2012 was going to be a big year of achievements for me. I would be graduating from university in Cambridge and dancing at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. I had been feeling unhappy in my body for some time by this point, January 2012. A few months prior from this I had split from my fiancé which of course broke my heart but also meant that I had to channel all this hate and negative energy in to doing something for myself. After Christmas of 2011 I had over indulged, as we all usually do and made it my New Years resolution to lose weight and get fit. But this year I meant it, I didn’t want it to become some fad that wore off by February, I wanted to regain my confidence and feel much better in myself. I remember stepping on the scales between Christmas and new year, I hadn’t weighed myself for over 3 years as I never had scales at uni and really I was scared to do so. I remember looking down at the scales and reading 15stone 10lbs. I was in a state of shock, I have never been skinny but when I went to uni I was top end of 11, bordering 12. This was the wake up call I needed, as I began googling all sorts of classes and fitness groups I found Charlie, CBC. Went along for my trial session the beginning of Jan and I was hooked. I signed up for a 3 month membership and went religiously every week. I embraced the clean eating, swapped the sweets for fruit and nuts, the chips for sweet potatoes and fizzy drinks and booze for water and the pounds began to drop off.
In those 3 months I lost 3 stone 2lbs putting me down to 12 stone 8lbs. I felt
so much better instead of wearing size 18s I was in size 12-14 clothes for the first time since leaving college. It was literally the best feeling and knowing I had done it the healthy way was even better.
Being a student I couldn’t afford to continue coming along so instead I joined the Cambridge Bootcamps Tribe for one month online and went on to lose another 6lbs putting me at 12 stone 2lbs.
It was at this stage I felt confident enough to go it alone. The end of 2012 came I graduated from Uni with a 2:1 honours degree, danced in front of the world and fell in love with my best friend who I am still with now today.
Losing weight is by no means easy but what Charlie did was more than a gym or your standard personal trainer could ever do. What she did so well was care and not only care but teach me how to look after my body, she would tell me where I was going wrong she literally changed my entire way of thinking.
I went on to continue clean eating, more relaxed now allowing myself the odd treat of course. I try to exercise 3-4 times a week, I do a combination of strength and cardio training at the gym and running.
Last year I was privileged enough to be chosen to take on a charity challenge with Lloyds Banking Group to raise money for BBC Children in Need. “24 peaks in 24 hours”… This involved trekking 24 peaks over 1 10hour day and one 14hour day in the Lake District in September 2015. Not only a physical challenge but a personal one too as I have an absolute fear of heights.
But Charlie’s support and losing weight had given me back that confidence and that determination to try something new and overcome my fear. It was one of the toughest weekends of my life, there were tears, sweat, laughter and a lot of swearing! But we all did it and as a collective raised over £100,000 for children in need. I raised £2400 as an individual and £15,000+ in my team in the office I work for in London.
CBC supported me once again, by sponsoring me for this challenge. The help you have given me Charlie I really cannot put a price on it and I really don’t think I can ever thank you enough. So here I am, 4 years down the line, living in London 5stone 8lbs gone forever.
From a size 18 at 15stone 10lbs to a size 8-10 at 10stone 2lbs I am the happiest and healthiest I have ever been.
So if your thinking about joining up, your not sure if it’s worthwhile I am firsthand evidence that it does work and it is certainly worth every single penny it costs and more! I used to get out of breath walking over mill road bridge and down the street. Now I can run 10 miles without stopping. It just goes to show what a difference the right habits can make, eating well, training our bodies and all that in hand with the fantastic support of CBC bootcamps is a guaranteed recipe for success.
Honestly though thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me, I wouldn’t be where I am today without your help and support. Whenever I talk to anyone new about my weight I tell them about you and your bootcamp and everyone is always amazed. You really are super woman!
Take care and lots of love
Alicia”
