A nice little Sunday reminder to focus on your wellbeing which encompasses ALL of us. Heart + soul. Your whole body is just as important to take care of as our physical one.
Sometimes the best thing for ourselves and our bodies may be a cozy, uneventful restful day.
On Friday I met with two of my oldest best girlfriends. All of us Muma’s but at different stages of parenthood. We’ve been friends for over 10 years which is something so precious. However due to the nature of life + the fact that I have a 15 year old, one of the ladies has an 11 + 8 year old, and the 3rd friend is pregnant with a 4 year old, we don’t see each other very often. When we do it is like no time has passed at all. I feel completely accepted warts n all. These ladies have watched + supported my journey from near and far for many years ?
One of the topics of conversations that came up was the GUILT we feel if we decide that we actually can’t face doing anything on a particular day. One of these ladies is VERY CLEAN! Myself + the second friend are NOT domestic goddesses ? But all of us felt the same way. Even if we don’t feel like we have done “anything” with our day (this does generally mean though that we have sorted out the washing, dinner, food for kids, shopping, organisation, caring for – our families) we feel GUILT! Guilt for “wasting” the day!
Why is this? Why can’t we see it more as being in tune with ourselves and listening to the little voice saying “It’s ok to just stop”
Sometimes exercise isn’t the most important thing, sometimes having a clean house isn’t the priority. SOMETIMES PRIORITISING down time IS the priority.
Doing “stuff”‘shouldn’t cause us stress + anxiety and become a burden on our “to-do” list. So if you’re feeling demotivated or exhausted maybe the answer is just to have a day doing nothing. No exercise, no cleaning. Maybe read a good book and go for a walk. Maybe it’s about exercising your right to have a day off and just REST. It’s all about balance ?
Bring some balance into your soul today and take a day off if you need to.
Everything will still be there in the morning and life is too short not to enjoy just being.
